Instructor in Training

This is a non-paying position. Instructors in Training are to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction by assisting with quality lessons delivered in a professional and well-organized manner.

GENERAL INFORMATION

  • For Ages 12+
  • Cost is $200.00 + HST
  • You must commit to one or two days per weekend- Saturday or Sunday
  • Commit to 7 weeks, starting on January 6th or 7th (you will not be volunteering on Family Weekend)
  • You will receive a 3-day training course prior to the season. Your child will be evaluated and must pass the course.
  • One training session for 1-hour a day on the day they volunteer for 7-weeks.
  • Minimal Ski level of Adventure Bronze is required (must be able to parallel ski blue runs).
  • Outgoing personality, energetic, punctual, team player, motivated, responsible, strong communication skills, professional, safety conscious.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists Instructors to provide a fun and exciting experience for the Lakeridge clientele
  • Assists Instructors to maintain class management and safety on and off the hill
  • Act in a professional manner

OPTION 1. UNDER 14 YEARS OF AGE:
Continue, expand and consolidate your learning by taking the Instructor-In-Training program again the following season.

OPTION 2. 14+ YEARS JR INSTRUCTOR PROGRAM:
For those who are unsure of their skills. The Jr Instructor Program is designed to get you Ski Lakeridge ready to teach walk-in lessons. Consisting of mandatory training, JPREP, 3-day course, and 3-day mandatory evaluation session throughout the season to help you prepare for CSIA or CASI certification.

OPTION 3. 14+ YEARS – GET CERTIFIED!

  • Ensure that your day-to-day activities, in and out of lesson situations, fall within the guidelines of the Ski & Snowboard School’s Health and Safety policies.
  • Be a champion of the “Guest Experience”

QUALIFICATIONS

  • We will train you for free! You will not be paid for training.
  • Must possess excellent public relations skills and be of a friendly and co-operative nature.
  • Must be professional, energetic, and dependable.
  • Must be able to reason and react with quick and thoughtful judgment while remaining calm under pressure.

Ski School Director & Administrator

SKI SCHOOL DIRECTOR – POSITION IS FILLED

Summary:

The ideal candidate will be willing to adopt our system and continue to progress it.

Must have a proven record of management and leadership of at least 2 years for 70+ employees. Must have experience in Snow sports for Children Ages 3-12, Minimum CSIA or CASI Certification Level I Ski School Director.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

  • Interviews, hires, and trains the staff.
  • Confers with parents regarding facility activities, promote Apprentice/Level 1 certification and enrollment procedures.
  • Manages the risk management and general safety practices of the Ski School.
  • Works closely with the Ski School Director to implement standards and procedures for Ski School staff.
  • Trains and motivates instructors to teach skiing or snowboarding to children.
  • Obtains a list of ski school lesson reservations in order to prepare work assignments and schedule appropriately.
  • Assigns instructors their classes and areas of responsibility for each day.
  • Assigns students to classes in order to match abilities and compatibility.
  • Schedules classes to ensure the maximum use of Instructors and coverage of guests.
  • Ensures that customer service standards are met and addresses customer issues or complaints.

Computer Skills:

  • Must have computer experience. Will need to use Excel.
  • Prepared to learn new software programs. i.e. Ski Anywhere.

Requirements:

  • Two years experience in ski school management.
  • Minimum Level 1 Certification.
  • Ability to use good judgment during confrontational or high-pressure situations and deal effectively with other employees, parents, and the public.
  • Ability to ski or snowboard at least at an advanced level.
